2011 Eastern Canadian championships Results

Several Island clubs took part in the Eastern Canadian wrestling championships recently.

Clubs included Rikidokan, Raw, Red Rock, Summerside and a newly-formed club out of Colonel Gray High School.

Many Island wrestlers enjoyed very favourable results at the competition, including gold for Trevor Banks of Rikidokan in the under-54 kilogram juvenile men, silver and bronze for Halen Sky and Liz Lee of Colonel Gray, and bronze for JoJo Orsatti of the Red Rock Wrestling Club.

The Raw Wrestling Club and the Wolf Pack Grappling Club out of Summerside were also well represented, with Raw’s Hillary Jones and Dallen MacArthur placing fourth in cadet women’s under-46 and cadet boys’ under-58 kilogram categories, respectively.

Summerside’s Brett Adams and Emmett A’Hearn both placed fourth in their divisions as well, as did Rodney Bourassa of Colonel Gray.

In all, it was a weekend filled with very encouraging results for Island wrestling.

Its established clubs continued to produce excellent results, while at the same time its new clubs demonstrated the growth that is taking place in the sport on Prince Edward Island.
